Friends of the Florida Panther Refuge
||The Friends of the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge works to protect and preserve Florida panthers in the wild through education and advocacy. Only about 100 of these majestic creatures remain! We work diligently to educate people about Florida panthers at community events, nature festivals and organizational meetings. Our work also includes assisting Refuge staff and biologists with projects on the Refuge, such as monitoring trail cameras for panther activity as well as helping with the control of exotic species in the 26,400 acre Refuge.
||This posting is for a one-day fundraising event we are holding on Sunday, January 31: the Panther Prowl Poker Run! This exciting event will host motorcycles and riders who will travel throughout Lee and Collier Counties collecting cards in hopes of getting the winning poker hand. Volunteers will be stationed at one or more of six locations (Harley Davidson of Ft. Myers, the Mermaid Club on Ft. Myers Beach, the Panther Refuge, Iron Rhino, Everglades Cycle Service, and Hooters (all in or around Naples). Please consider helping us as we educate riders (who will travel through panther habitats as part of the Run!) about Florida panthers and the dangers they face.
