Student groups may design and implement a unique special event (more than just coloring and board games etc.) to be done in the atrium of the hospital. The event will be scheduled in a 3 hour block which includes setup and clean up. Volunteers are responsible for providing the materials needed for all activities with the hospital providing chairs and tables. Due to a busy activity calendar, available space for groups is limited and sign ups function on a first come first serve basis. Events may only be scheduled on weekdays between 11:00 am and 4:30 pm with the number of students per group not exceeding 10 people. Groups need to e-mail the primary contact with a finalized idea and possible dates a minimum of 2.5 weeks prior to event.
Due to patient privacy laws, we DO NOT ALLOW PHOTOGRAPHS to be taken by visiting groups or individuals. (Photography of an event by media, with appropriate prior arrangements and parent consent is permitted.) Unless patients/family naturally discusses topics, please respect their rights for privacy and avoid sensitive subjects such as diagnosis, length of hospital stay, or plans for going home. Remember, that while hospitalized the patients are kids first and are just looking to have fun!
