SWFAS was created as a not for profit organization in 1979 with the purpose of providing drug and alcohol detoxification services to the residents of Lee, Charolotte, Collier, Hendry, and Glades Counties. Since incorporation, SWFAS has expanded to become the largest provider of substance abuse treatment and prevention services in the five county area. We provide a full continum of care to adults and their families, ranging from detoxification through halfway house rehabilitation and more. |
| Job Description: |
Students will have the option to choose a prepared life skills topic (money management, time management, self care, self-esteem, to name just a few) and activity materials to present to one or several different groups as desired, or students may want to prepare their own presentation provided that they meet the outcomes requirements for the topic chosen. Students will have topic materials at their disposal. Assistance will be provided as needed. Other areas within the SWFAS organization are also available for service-learning opportunities. |

This is a wonderful opportunity for any student to practice “people skills.” Student educators, social workers, social services, mental health workers, health professions, as well as students in the College of Arts and Sciences and Business majors are all welcome to share their time with residents and the dedicated staff at SWFAS. |
