Volunteers work outdoors assisting CCFW members in staking starter burrows, as well as trimming and maintaining existing nests around the City of Cape Coral.
CCFW distributes materials for perches (free!) and shows residents how to build starter burrows on their property. Owls that have been displaced by construction recognize these burrows and are happy to move in. The group also instructs people how to safely and properly maintain new and existing burrows, as the owls are known to abandon burrows that become overgrown.
Volunteers need to attend one training workshop before starting position. Job is performed on Wednesdays at designated locations around Cape Coral. Group meets at 9:00 AM near the parking lot of Target, located on Veterans Pkwy. |
