The Economic Development Office (EDO) is the City of Cape Coraldepartment responsible for attracting new investors and businesses to the city, promoting the expansion of existing businesses, and creating new and improved employment opportunities for residents.

The EDO provides these services:

  •  Global publicity and advertising for business development

  •  Market research

  • Financial Incentives

  • Business ombudsman and advocate

  • Small Business Development Center  (SBDC)

  • Business  location assistance

 The Economic Development Office resides in the city manager’s office – emphasizing its strategic importance to the City. The EDO is staffed by four people. The EDO also funds the Cape Coral Satellite Office of the FGCU-SBDC that provides free personalized business counseling.

Job Description:

The student will work with economic development specialist in various areas of business recruitment and business retention/expansion. Includes Internet research, data entry and analysis, interviews and surveys, field work in the community, committee activities, event organization, and general office duties, as necessary. Will get valuable insight into government work and learn dynamics of economic development.  Student must have excellent knowledge of the Internet and MS Office and effective written and verbal communication skills.
