Details: The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world’s leading nonprofit health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases. We do so by funding worldwide research; by providing comprehensive health care services and support to MDA families nationwide; and by rallying communities to fight back through advocacy, fundraising and local engagement. It’s special work powered by special people who give generously.
Job Description: MDA Summer Camp Volunteer-Weeklong overnight program for children ages 6-17 yrs of age. The volunteers will provide hands on assistance with activities of daily living, coaching, mentoring, supervisoring and supporting the youth.

Additional Information: The role of MDA summer camp volunteer is a very important one, and if accepted many people will be counting on you to do your very best to take care of MDA campers and uphold MDA’s policies and reputation.

The MDA summer camp volunteer process includes a completed camp application, an interview with an MDA staff member, a reference check, a criminal background check and a completed physical by your medical professional within the past 12 months.

Volunteers are expected to stay the full week at the camp and will be placed with one camper. During this week you will be assisting the camper in all activities.

There are no costs involved in volunteering for the camp but you are expected to have your own transportation to and from the campsite.

Our camp is held in Brandon, Florida for one week in the month of June. If interested please contact the MDA. The application process begins annually in the month of January.
