The Charlotte County Historical Center (CCHC), located at Bayshore Live Oak Park on beautiful Charlotte Harbor. We are part of Charlotte County Community Services/Libraries & History Division of Charlotte County Government. Our mission is to offer a variety of programs and services to educate the community about the rich history of the Charlotte County area. As well, we are pledged to preserve protect, and promote the wide variety of local as well as state history to the public through educational outreach, in house programs, professional exhibits, and artifact collections. We offer programming & events for all demographics from young school children to seniors. Our goal is to 'bring history to life' in order to fully express the appreciation of history & its impact on our lives.
Our permanent exhibits explore the full spectrum of Charlotte County history, from pre-historic times to the post-WWII development boom. Our main exhibit hall features changing exhibits related to local and state history.

| Job Description: |
Students would work primarily with the Historical Coordinator on programming initiatives based at all demographics within the Charlotte County area. These programs are educationally based and require the ability to comprehend as well as demonstrate a historical component to each event. The Center trains students to be living historians, how to conduct research, how to use historical knowledge for accurate presentation to the public and how to do public history programming as well as work inside a museum. This site offers an excellant opportunity to students in the fields of archaeology, history, education, museum studies, marketing, communications & public finance. |

We require our participants to be willing to work with a variety of age groups, including seniors. Also we need students that demonstrate a competant use of electronic media, a positive attitude and a willingess to take instruction in a unique setting. |
