Mother of God House of Prayer Retreat and Spiritual Growth Center
Political Action/Social Justice
||Nestled in the unspoiled tropical woodlands of Alva, a tiny town on the Caloosahatchee River, just 15 miles east of Fort Myers, Mother of God House of Prayer is one of Southwest Florida's best-kept secrets. A charming retreat and spirituality center founded in 1982, the House of Prayer serves the needs of all who come seeking spiritual growth.
Our grounds include:
Small prayer chapel
World Peace Garden
Outdoor 7-circuit Labyrinth
Way of the Cross Trail
||MOGHOP has many opportunities for service learning! We are open to student's ideas and suggestions. Here is a list of our "needs and dreams": help coming up with and implementing a sustainability plan, identifying the species of plants on our grounds and labeling them, help making an organized database, starting a garden (possibly a community garden), help keeping up with the grounds, help raising awareness about our center (Marketing and Public Relations), help with renovations of our hall and our deck overlooking the river, help with maintenance of the retreat center, and overall office help.
