Details: The Foundation for the Developmentally Disabled strives to enhance the quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities in Collier and Lee Counties though community awareness, family support, housing options, and social, recreational and educational opportunities.
Job Description: We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available and would appreciate anything you are able to do for us.  Below is a summary of some of the programs we have available.

Public Relations/Social Networking/Newsletter: Assist with Monthly Newsletter production, Website design and formatting, updating our social media outlets including Facebook and Twitter and create news releases and other communications, under the direction of the Executive Director

Bowling League: FDD hosts two bowling leagues weekly (one on Monday mornings and one on Thursday afternoons). Assistance is needed as lane captains to help our clients keep score, and keep the flow of the games going.

Fundraising: Coordinate and enact fundraising opportunities for our program through different venues.

Life Skills Center classes: FDD host workshops teaching life skills to our clients and need classroom volunteers and teachers. Classes meet once a week for five hours during a six week time period. We ask that each volunteer assist in at least two hour increments.

Social Programs: FDD hosts monthly social events where we need “day of” volunteers for some of our monthly social events (which are held in the evenings, usually on the weekend). We also have a series of respite “Clubhouse” activities planned to start up soon where volunteer help will be needed to help give our client caregivers a little time to themselves.  FDD also host special one day community outings and special events for our clients and help is needed to plan and supervise these events.

Gala: The FDD’s largest fundraiser is an annual Gala “A Very Special Evening for Very Special People” that is a formal dinner with a silent and live auction. Dancing and entertainment are also provided. Volunteers are needed to plan this event, which will be held on March 1, 2014 as well as volunteers for the night of the event from 5pm to 10pm.
