Mission is to assist the elderly to maintain their independence and dignity by providing non-medical quality of life services. Many elderly moved to Lee County to retire, leaving relatives, friends, and familar support services. Illness, or death of a loved one, creates isolation as they are not aware of available services.Many to not qualify for government funded services or find lon waits for services to fill immediate needs. Another barrier to services is their pride and feeling the services are welfare. |

Working with elderly to provide transportation, shopping, chore service, paperwork/correspondence, respite care, friendly visits, telephone reassurance. |

Non-denominational organization composed of volunteers from religious organizations, businesses, and the community. Lee IVC serves Fort Myers, North Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Pine Island, South Fort Myers, Iona, and Lehigh Acres. Currently have two offices-Fort Myers and Cape Coral-and will be opening an office in Bonita Springs in summer 2001 to expand service area to Bonita Springs and North Naples. Volunteer hours and opportunities to serve are flexible for both individuals and "dream teams" (four or more). |
