Teen Court of Collier County
||Teen Court of Collier County is a court diversionary for first time juvenile misdeamnor offenders and a court education program for middle and high school students. Student volunteers participate in real trials for their peers who have been arrested. They serve as attorneys, bailiffs, clerks, and jurors in these trials. Teen Court is held two Tuesday evenings per month at the Collier County Courthouse.
||College students would serve as adult jury facilitators, clerk assistants, and courtroom monitors. Students have the opportunity to work with judges and attorneys from the Public Defenders Office and State Attorneys Office as well as private attorneys. They would also work with student volunteers and the defendants and their families during case prepartion. It is a great networking experience as well as career experience for anyone interested in law, criminial justice, or child psychology.
