Support, support, support!
The Office of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement wants to support your service-learning efforts. Support includes directing you to resources, letting you know about conferences, sponsoring workshops, attending your classes to explain service-learning to your students, helping you develop service-learning placements at appropriate not-for-profits, providing a reflection booklet that can be adapted to individual courses, and documenting students’ activities. The list is only limited by our understanding of your needs.
In the past we have provided mini-grants for conference travel and for small stipends to compensate you for developing and implementing service-learning courses. We are looking for more grant support, but in the meantime we will be happy to offer any recommendations you might need to apply for professional development funds for travel.
This website is one of the most important ways we support you. There is good information for faculty who want to integrate service-learning into their courses, and the database is a terrific resource for students who need to find placements. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
