Environmental Stewardship Plan 2006
Approved in February of 2006, the Environmental Stewardship Management Plan is the result of work and study by the faculty, staff, and students of Florida Gulf Coast University.
This plan encompasses a broad spectrum of life at the University, and demonstrates our commitment to excellence and our plan to improve our environmental impact.
Curriculum goals include integration of sustainability issues into academic life. Research and scholarship goals incorporate an outward focus on our watershed and an inward focus on the level and breadth of scholarly work related to environmental issues carried out at the University.
Operation goals focus broadly on facility design and construction, recycling, campus transportation, wildlife populations, and ecological systems. Other goals include faculty and staff development, outreach and service, student opportunities, and institutional mission and planning.

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) 2005
FGCU developed the QEP as part of the University's reaffirmation of accreditation process through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). SACS approved the QEP in 2005 and implementation of the plan began in 2005-2006.
The mission of the QEP is to develop in students an ecological perspective and foster community involvement through experiential learning, scholarly dialogue, and interdisciplinary engagement.

Environmental Task Force Final Report 2000
Florida Gulf Coast University created an Environmental Task Force during the Fall 1999 semester at the request of President Merwin to advise him on the environmental aspects of FGCU’s strategic plan. This advisory board included student, faculty, and staff members.
In June of 2000, the Task Force released a Final Report, which included environmental goals and objectives, present and future environmental programs, and the need for a permanent environmental stewardship council. |
