Environmental Sustainability Committee

 
 

 The Environmental Sustainability Committee shall be responsible for ensuring that the university has a goal (with associated action plans) for promoting environmental sustainability that is included in the university strategic plan. The action plans will have clear objectives and identified resources and offices responsible for their attainment. The committee will monitor the implementation of approved action plans on an ongoing basis and it will make its recommendations to and receive directions from the University Planning and Budget Council. The committee will also ensure coordination of the activities of all campus units engaged in activities designed to achieve environmental sustainability.

Florida Gulf Coast University's exceptional environmental stewardship has been recognized with a national award.

Second Nature and the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment selected FGCU as one of 10 academic institutions around the country to receive the third annual Climate Leadership Award. 

The honor is presented to Climate Commitment signatory schools that demonstrate unparalleled innovation and leadership in promoting a sustainable future.

FGCU has received a STARS Silver Rating in recognition of their sustainability achievements from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). STARS, the Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System, is a new program that measures and encourages sustainability in all aspects of higher education.
