A recent NIOSH study of data entry workers published in the American Journal of Industrial Medicine found that supplemental breaks minimized discomfort and eyestrain without impairing productivity. When participants took a total of 20 minutes of supplemental break time over the course of their day:
· Discomfort and eyestrain ratings were significantly lower.
· Data-entry speed was significantly faster.
· Work output was maintained.
