Ph.D. in Computer Engineering
Dr. Anna Koufakou joined FGCU as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science in August 2009 after completing her Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orlando, Florida. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Informatics from the Athens University of Economics and Business in Athens, Greece and a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering from UCF. She worked as a Software Engineer at LaserSight Technologies in Winter Park, Florida, from 2001 until 2003. During her Ph.D. research she was involved in many data mining projects, such as mining of law enforcement data. She has mentored many undergraduate students for NSF-funded research and educational projects. Several of these collaborations led to publications in conference papers and to awards. Her current research interests include Large-Scale Parallel and Distributed Data Mining, Frequent Itemset Mining, Outlier Detection, and Knowledge Extraction.
