Ph.D. in Engineering – Civil and Environmental Engineering
Dr. LONG NGUYEN joined FGCU as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental and Civil Engineering in August, 2011. He obtained his B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) in 1999, M.Eng. in Construction Engineering and Management from Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in 2003, and M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering – Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2005 and 2007, respectively. He was awarded the Mahesh Varma Prize for the most outstanding academic performance among students in his field of study at AIT. Before joining FGCU, he was a lecturer at HCMUT. Prior to his tenure at HCMUT, he worked as a construction consultant at Jax Kneppers Associates, Inc. in Walnut Creek, CA. His area of expertise is construction engineering and management. The main focus of his current research includes schedule analysis, productivity, cumulative impacts, construction claims, and construction modeling and simulation. To date, Dr. Nguyen has published in refereed journals such as ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, and International Journal of Project Management. He is a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) in California.
