Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering
Dr. Ashraf Badir joined FGCU as an Associate Professor, Department of Environmental and Civil Engineering in August 2008. Dr. Badir received his B.S. with honor in civil engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt in 1982; M.S. in structural engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt in 1985; M.S. from the school of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech) in 1989 and PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1992. Dr. Badir is active in the research field of structural analysis of advanced composite materials, elastically tailored structures, long term durability, damage tolerance, and static and fatigue testing. He has conducted analytical and experimental research with USARO, BOEING, NASA Langley and NASA Glenn Research Centers and received the Jefferson Goblet Award for his theory of anisotropic beams with hygrothermal effects. His current research interests include the use of composite materials in civil engineering applications. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).
