Scholarships

The following is an alphabetical list of scholarships held in trust by the Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation.

The Presidential Endowed and Book Endowed scholarship funds were established when Florida Gulf Coast University was but a vision in the minds of a few. We are grateful to the donors of these funds for their foresight and generosity. Because these scholarship funds were established before Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation existed, the Foundation also wishes to thank the University of South Florida-Fort Myers Campus for encouraging these gifts and the prudent management of the funds.

Since 1993, when the Florida Gulf Coast University Foundation was formed, Endowed and Restricted scholarship funds have been established for the benefit of FGCU students. Thoughtful individuals and companies determined a variety of criteria to meet the needs of a diverse student body and to encourage excellence.

Business Ethics scholarships were established under the State of Florida's Ethics in Business Scholarship Program Endowment and matched dollar-for-dollar, up to a program total of $500,000. Donors that established Ethics in Business Scholarship funds agreed to add state criteria to their own list of criteria. These four criteria are listed at the end of this document.

Also included in this listing are Legacy Endowed scholarship funds. Through estate planning, several generous individuals demonstrated their belief in Florida Gulf Coast University and their desire to assist students to obtain their education. On behalf of future FGCU students, we thank these caring individuals.

5. Business Ethics Scholarships
   • The following four criteria are known as "EIB Criteria" for the purposes of this document. These criteria are required by the State of Florida. Any additional criteria added are those of the fund's donor(s):
     • The recipient must be an undergraduate;
     • The awards must be distributed based on need;
     • The recipient must be enrolled in or have completed, and successfully pass with a grade of C or better, a business ethics course (MAN 2062 - 3 hours or MAN 3063 - 3 hours) needs to be taken in, or prior to, the first semester of the scholarship. The student is then eligible throughout her/his FGCU school career for scholarship renewals provided that s/he continue to meet the other scholarship criteria;
     • The recipient must demonstrate a commitment to serving their community (which is already a requirement of graduation at Florida Gulf Coast University).
