General Education Program

General Education Program

Welcome to Florida Gulf Coast University!

AGLS EmblemI am thrilled to introduce you to one of the most enriching experiences of an FGCU education: the General Education Program (GEP). Written Communication and Quantitative Reasoning classes in the GEP help you exercise the writing and mathematics skills vital to your success in and out of the classroom. Critical Thinking classes encourage you to develop your own informed, scholarly voice as a student of the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences. Finally, Intercultural Knowledge classes put you on the path toward success in navigating a world of diverse cultures and people.

The 36-credit-hour General Education Program readies you for the academic demands of your major and prepares you for a lifetime of learning.

Thank you for choosing FGCU. I can’t wait to see you around campus.

Go Eagles!

Eric Otto, Ph.D.
Director of General Education
Associate Professor of Environmental Humanities
