Gen Ed Conversation

Welcome to this website for the FGCU General Education Program (GEP).

The GEP supports the university mission and guiding principles by promoting academic excellence, preparing students for their majors, and cultivating habits of lifelong learning.  FGCU students complete thirty-six credit hours of General Education coursework within the subject areas of communication, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, as they develop their skills in quantitative reasoning, written communication, oral communication, and critical thinking.

The General Education curriculum is developed and approved by program faculty, through their elected representatives on the General Education Council of the Faculty Senate.  Administration and assessment is coordinated by the General Education Program Director, working within the Office of Curriculum and Instruction.
