Tuition Support

Graduate tuition support provides assistance for in-state or out-of-state tuition. Graduate tuition support does not cover undergraduate courses or any fees other than tuition. Both in-state and out-of-state tuition supports are highly competitive, availability of tuition support may vary from one program to another. 

Application Process for In-state Tuition Support 

To apply for In-state tuition support, students must:

  • Be admitted to FGCU as a degree-seeking graduate student or have a pending application for admission.
  • Refer to individual program requirements BEFORE submitting the application. Additional information and/or documents
    may be needed at the time of submission.
  • Submit the application form for in-state tuition support as applicable.
  • Submit all additional supplemental materials, as required by the individual program (see section below), no later than
    the deadline.
  • Incomplete applications (e.g. incomplete application form, missing supplemental materials) will not be processed.
  • The application form for Graduate in-state tuition support can be found in the ORGS Form Library. 

Application Deadlines for In-State tuition support

Fall Deadline:        May 1
Spring Deadline:    October 1  
Summer Deadline:  March 1

Complete applications along with the required supplemental materials must be submitted as PDF attachment(s), TO: graduate@fgcu.edu by 5:00 P.M.

Non-Florida Resident Out-of-State Tuition Support for Graduate Students (FGCU Graduate Fellowship Awards)

Graduate tuition support (graduate fellowship) provides assistance for the out-of-state tuition portion only. Graduate tuition support does not cover undergraduate courses or any fees other than tuition.
The out-of-state tuition support is highly competitive and is subject to availability.

(1) For two (Fall and Spring) semesters, or 50% for one (Fall or Spring Semester)

 

  • Graduate students applying for the Graduate Fellowship must be admitted as degree-seeking students for the
    semester of which the awards are sought.
  • Non-degree seeking students are not eligible to apply.
  • Only full-time graduate students (>9 credit hours/semester) are eligible to apply for the Graduate Fellowship Award.
  • Students must maintain the full-time status throughout the entire semester. Students unable to maintain the full-time
    status (e.g. drop a class, etc.) after receiving the Fellowship Award will be subject to tuition payment, tuition re-calculation, additional fees, etc., as applicable.
  • TOEFL is required for international students. A minimal score of 79 iBT (or equivalent), or 6.5 IELTS, is required.
  • Span of awards: up to 2 years (or 4 semesters) for Master’s degree students; up to 4 years (or 8 semesters) for
    Doctoral degree students.
  • Students must reapply every semester to continue or renew one’s award.
  • The total number of awards in each category may vary every semester due to budget availability.
  • Each College Dean recommends graduate students to ORGS.
  • ORGS reviews and approves awards. ORGS may approve an award for one semester only.

To apply for Out-of-state tuition support, students must: 

  • Be admitted to FGCU as a degree-seeking graduate student or have a pending application for admission.
  • Refer to individual program requirements BEFORE submitting the application. Additional information and/or
    documents may be needed at the time of submission.
  • Submit the application form for Non-Florida resident out-of-state tuition support (Graduate Fellowship).
  • Submit all additional supplemental materials, as required by the individual program, by the deadline.
  • Incomplete applications (e.g. incomplete application form, missing supplemental materials, missing signatures
    or approvals, etc.) will not be processed.
  • The application form for Graduate in-state tuition support can be found in the ORGS Form Library.

All Other CHPSW Programs: Statement of Financial Need

§ Students of CHPSW may be expected to participate in 10 hours of department service for each credit of tuition support received during the term; for instance, assisting with department sponsored events, assisting with departmental service activities on campus or in the community, assisting with department or faculty projects, etc. 

Graduate Studies Scholarships

The Graduate Studies scholarship is $2,500 and is awarded to 6-8 current FGCU graduate students annually. The deadline to apply is May 1 at 4:00 PM. For more information and requirements please review the Graduate Studies Scholarship Application.

Latin American & Caribbean Graduate Scholarship

The Latin American & Caribbean Graduate Scholarship is $500 annually. In addition it provides students from Latin America and the Caribbean with the opportunity to have their residency classified as in-state, as opposed to out-of-state for tuition purposes (In accordance with section 1009.21 (10)(e) Florida Statutes). This scholarship can have an annual tuition value of approximately $22,500 in savings for scholarship recipients.

Graduate Assitantship

Graduate assistantships are hourly-waged or stipend student employment opportunities. Graduate assistantships are available through academic departments and administrative units within the University. Please check with your Academic department for current graduate assistantship opportunities. Another resource for on-campus and off-campus employment is the College Central Network service through the Career Development Services website.
