Graduate assistantships are available through academic departments and administrative units within the University and are funded by external agencies or through OPS funds.

Waiver Value

Graduate tuition waivers cover only the graduate matriculation (tuition) fee for in-state or out-of-state students, depending on the residency of the student. Waivers do not cover any additional fees. For a complete breakdown of tuition and fees, refer to http://www.fgcu.edu/Cashiers/tuition-and-fees.html.

The following is the 2007 - 2008 academic year values of tuition waivers:

  • In-state waivers $189.25 per credit hour
  • Out-state waivers $621.12 per credit hour

Additional Requirements for Graduate Students Seeking a Waiver

The awarding of waivers and assistantships is competitive. Colleges have limited funds available for waivers and assistantships and therefore have established customized selection criteria. Graduate tuition waivers are awarded through college departments or administrative units. You may be required to submit additional forms or provide additional information to your program. Please refer to the list below for those requirements.

Waiver & Assistantship Renewal

Waiver and assistantship renewal is NOT automatic!

Your award is guaranteed for one term only  - fall, spring, or summer - the term for which you initially receive your waiver or assistantship. A new application must be submitted for each term.

You should also contact the college or department that initially awarded your waiver or assistantship to inquire about any additional renewal requirements.

Each College has a review process for the awarding of waivers and assistantships. These decisions are made soon after the designated application deadline.
