Congratulations on becoming a Student Employee at FGCU!

There are requirements that must be met before you begin your job on campus. As a Student Employee, the requirement of a Level 2 Criminal Background Check depends upon the duties and responsibilities of your position.

Level 2 Criminal Background Check

Obtain the completed “New Hire Background Check Verification Form” from your Supervisor.

On the verification form, questions are asked regarding whether the position has been designated as working directly with other students (whether minors or not) and whether the position has been designated as being a position of special trust and/or responsibility. Based on your Supervisor’s answers to these questions and HR Review, background check and fingerprinting may be required for your position.

If a background check is required;

    • Contact HR to obtain your New Hire VECHS waiver form and appointment instructions prior to attending sign-on or;
    • You will be provided with the New Hire VECHS waiver form and appointment instructions at the sign-on session

New employees must arrive promptly.
Those arriving late to a session will be required to attend a later session.

Mondays

1:30 p.m.

Tuesdays

3:00 p.m.

Wednesdays

11:00 a.m.

Thursdays

10:00 a.m.

Fridays

11:30 a.m.

 

The following items are required to complete your Sign-On Session:

  • New Hire Background Check Verification Form

This form is required to participate in the sign-on session. If you do not have it on hand you will be asked to return to your Supervisor to obtain it and attend a later session.

  • Sign-On Packet

Print single-sided and complete in pen.

Print a copy to turn in with your sign-on packet. Instructions are available below.

  • Bring required documentation

Original document(s) that establish employment eligibility. A list of acceptable documents, as specified on the I-9, is provided below.

Important Note: A critical component of the new employee sign-in process is the completion of the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services (BCIS, formerly INS) I-9 Form. Completion of the I-9 form is required to verify the identity and employment eligibility of anyone hired by the University. According to BCIS requirements, all new employees must complete the I-9 Form on or before their first day of work.

Social security card for Payroll W-4 purposes (photocopy is acceptable if you will not be presenting your original security card as one of the I-9 documents).
