People First ID
Human Resources sent email reminders to all benefit eligible employees with their People First ID on Friday, October 7th. It is strongly recommended that you log on to the People First website PRIOR to the beginning of Open Enrollment to ensure your password is valid.

Long Term Disability Seminars
Human Resources and The Gabor Agency will be offering Long Term Disability (LTD) Seminars. The seminar will review the different options available for LTD as well as reasons you should consider enrolling in LTD.

2011 Plan Year Open Enrollment Key Dates
Open Enrollment Snapshot – 6:00 p.m. ET October 21, 2011:

• People First will make a “Snapshot” that is used to determine which employees will be mailed a benefits package to the employee’s home address and to determine the available benefits options presented on the employee Open Enrollment benefits statement.

• Employees whose new hire status is processed by People First after October 20, 2011 (regardless of the effective date of the employee’s hire) will not receive an Open Enrollment benefits package.

Open Enrollment Period – November 7, 2011 through November 18, 2011:

• People First System will be available starting at 8:00 a.m. ET on November 7th and ending at 6:00 p.m. ET on November 18th.

• People First Service Center Hours – Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET.

• People First Service Center will be open on Veterans Day, November 11th.

Open Enrollment Correction Period November 21, 2011 through December 9, 2011.

• Confirmation statements will be printed and mailed starting Saturday, November 19th.

• Employees must call the Service Center to make corrections.

Due to Open Enrollment starting later this year, payroll deductions for State Sponsored Benefits will be on the 2nd and 3rd pay of December (12/16 & 12/23) for January coverage. No deductions for State Sponsored Benefits will be taken on the 1st pay of December. (12/2)


Newly Hired Employees and Qualifying Status Change Events after the Open Enrollment Snapshot is taken (10/20/11)
Each year some employees are hired or otherwise experience a Qualifying Status Change (QSC) event after the Open Enrollment (OE) snapshot has been taken. As a result, the Open Enrollment period for these employees works differently. Employees processing any QSC event, including new hire, after the OE snapshot has been taken and effective prior to January 1, 2012 year must process both the QSC event and the Open Enrollment event. The QSC event must be processed before the OE event. If the QSC event is processed after the OE period has ended, the employee should call the People First Service Center to validate their elections for the next plan year.

What is the Open Enrollment snapshot?

The Open Enrollment snapshot is a point in time that People First uses to identify who will be mailed a benefits statement for the upcoming Open Enrollment period.

How does the OE snapshot impact employees hired after the snapshot is taken?

Only eligible employees who were active in People First when the snapshot was run will receive a benefits statement in the mail. Election options for new hires are described below.

How are new hires, who are hired after the OE snapshot is taken, impacted?

Employees hired into People First after the OE snapshot is taken but before OE ends, and with an effective date before the last day of OE, can make OE elections on-line in People First. These employees will have both an OE event and a new hire QSC event. Employees must process the QSC event first. All OE elections, even for new employees, must be processed on-line before OE ends.

Employees hired into People First after OE has ended, regardless of their effective date, can only make QSC elections on-line. Employees must call the Service Center to make any changes for the next plan year (e.g., different amount for their FSA election).

What QSC elections, processed after the OE snapshot is taken do not automatically carry over to the next Plan Year?

New enrollees in a Medical Reimbursement Account, Limited Purpose Medical Reimbursement Account, Dependent Care Reimbursement Account and Health Savings Account after the OE snapshot is taken, must make their elections for the next plan year during Open Enrollment. If Open Enrollment is over, they must call the Service Center to have their election for the next plan year processed.
