Every year Honors supports several study away and study abroad opportunities. The vast majority of these experiences are courses that spend 2-4 weeks outside of the States. During the past three years, we have supported students studying in the Bahamas, Brazil, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Ghana, just to name a few places. Additionally, Honors has offered classes with experiential components within the U.S. and has funded students for domestic experiences.
We even do some crazy trips. In Summers of 2011 and 2012, Honors visited to Craftsbury, VT for a class on embodied philosophy. This course took take place at a world-class running facility and students had the opportunity to challenge themselves both physically and mentally as they spent their non-course time training with some of the best conditioned athletes in the world!
Besides our own excursions, Honors works very closely with the International Services Office to advise students about the best study abroad options for them. While we generally encourage students to look at schools with which FGCU has articulation agreements, the opportunities for foreign study are just about endless!
