Applying to Honors

Admissions to Honors

There are multiple ways you can join our community of scholars and leaders. See below for the application procedure for incoming First Time in College (FTIC) students, transfer students, and students who are already enrolled at FGCU. For dual-enrollment students see our page on ACE Honors.

Incoming FTIC students:

Your eligibility for Honors depends on your SAT or ACT scores.

  • 1850 SAT or 28 ACT – automatic admission. Students with these entry scores receive automatic admission to the Honors program.
  • 1600 SAT or 24 ACT - eligible to apply. Students with these entry scores may apply to the Honors Program by submitting a one-page essay addressing the following prompt:

Explain how membership in the Honors Program would enable you both to further your academic interests and to make an impact through service activities and leadership. Address how membership in the Honors Program fits into your broader personal and career goals.

Transfer Students:

Students transferring from another university honors program will be considered for the current semester in which they are transferring with submission of completed honors application package and personal interview.

Current FGCU Students:

We have two admissions cycles each academic year. We have open applications in early October in the fall and early February in the spring. Students must complete an application package consisting of a biography, resume and recommendation letter as well as complete an interview process. Application forms can be obtained in the Honors office in Reed Hall, room 155.
