Honors has several application processes. It is very important to pay attention to which one applies to you.
Freshmen (including Collegiate High School, International Baccalaureate, and Advance Placement)
If you are an FTIC freshman, there is no separate application process for Honors. Your application to FGCU is your application to Honors. Students who meet our admission standard will be automatically notified of their admission to Honors.
In 2010-2011, our admission criteria are as follows:
1850+ SAT or 28+ Composite ACT
and
3.9+ high school GPA (as recalculated from your high school transcript by our Office of Admission)
We will admit students who meet this standard until our class is full. Generally, students have a significantly better chance of admission if they apply to FGCU before December 1st of the year prior to which they plan to attend. Students who meet the standard but apply after our class quota is reached will be placed on our waiting list and will be notified if spots become available. We do not notify students who have not been accepted and will not notify students on the waiting list until spots are available for them.
Transfer Students
Transfer students may apply to Honors here. We accept only a limited number of transfer students each year and do so only by application. Applicants should have a GPA of 3.5+. Students who are graduates or current members of honors programs/colleges will receive preferential treatment. PTK graduates are highly encouraged to apply.
FGCU Students
During week three of each semester, the Honors Program will contact, via email, all FGCU students who a) are full-time students, b) have a GPA of 3.5 or better, and c) have completed 16-60 college credits. (Students who have completed more than 60 credit hours should contact Honors directly about applying.) These students will be invited to the Honors Open House. The Open House will familiarize students with the Program and answer any questions that students have.
After the Open House, the FGCU open application period will begin. The Fall 2011 Open House will take place on Friday, September 16th from 1-2 PM in BHG 107.
We accept applications for only one week during each semester. The application can be found here. In Fall 2011, we will accept applications from Friday, September 16 until Friday, September 23. Completed applications will be reviewed and select students will be invited to interview for the Program. Candidates will be notified with a decision by the Wednesday following interviews.
