Course Design Academy

Registration for Course Design Academy and Course Design Academy II: Blended Learning opens in March.

  • Course Design Academy is a 6 day inter-disciplinary experience offered to all resident faculty members during Summer “A”. Participants design or re-design a course based upon significant learning experiences and long-term learning goals.

  • Participants work their way through a process focusing on the question: What do you want your students to remember 5 years after the course ends?

  • We will explore learner-centered design principles, discuss ideas in small learning teams and apply principles/concepts to courses. The Academy is not a series of presentations but a collegial, reflective, research-supported set of experiences based upon Fink’s book and backward design principles.

  • You will exit with a new and improved fall course and tools to implement strategies and activities. Participants will receive a copy of Creating Significant Learning Experiences by L. Dee Fink, a certificate of participation, and a celebration will held on the last day to complete the multi-day seminar. In addition, all participants will receive an Academy polo shirt at the celebration.
