Outlook Anywhere
The Outlook Anywhere feature for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 lets your Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2003 clients connect to their Exchange servers over the Internet by using the RPC over HTTP Windows networking component. This is useful because users who don't want to use web mail from home and want to use a full version of Outlook no longer need to keep their desktop computer on to remote into. We currently have it configured to work with our mail servers.

Once you open Outlook, you'll get a prompt to create a new profile. The name is arbitrary, but for the purpose of this instruction, we'll use the profile name Outlook Anywhere

  1. Enter your Name, e-mail address, and password into their respective boxes. Be sure that the "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" check box is not selected. Then click next.
  2. Outlook will then go through it's process of Establishing a network connecting, searching for server settings, then log into the server. You'll be prompted to enter your user name and password. For your user name, enter your FGCU e-mail address, and then enter your password. Click OK.
  3. The check marks should then complete. Click Finish
  4. You'll be prompted for your password again. Enter your password then click OK.
