Office of Research and Graduate Studies



Undergraduate student research plays an integral role at FGCU to support and advance faculty research as well as to enrich the student-centered learning environment. The Office of Research & Graduate Studies (ORGS) establishes the “Undergraduate Student Research Support Award” (USRSA) to promote undergraduate student research participation across all academic disciplines at FGCU. All full-time FGCU Faculty are eligible to apply. Award recipients are expected to involve currently enrolled full-time FGCU undergraduate students in research or scholarly activities. 

Deadline:   The last Monday of April 2015 (by 5:00 pm) 


  • The number of awards and amount of each award may vary depending on budget availability
  • Faculty may use this award to supplement research and scholarly/creative activities involving undergraduate students (e.g., purchasing supplies and materials, traveling to an off-campus research or study site)
  • The award may be used to supplement travel expenses of undergraduate student(s) to attend conferences, meetings, symposia, workshops, or special events (< $500 per award)
  • Only electronic submission (to ORGS of the completed Application will be accepted for review 


  • Up to $1,000 per faculty member per award
  • Up to 10 awards per year
  • Funds available on July 1, 2015
  • Must be expended in 12 months (No extension; No carryover) 


Faculty award recipients must submit a Final Report (< 5 pages) to document activities and accomplishments as well as a Financial Report to provide details of itemized expenditures to ORGS ( by October 1, 2016. Applications will be reviewed immediately after the deadline. Incomplete application packages will not be reviewed. Award recipients will be notified via email by the end of June.
