My classroom/office is too cold/hot. How can I get the temperature adjusted?

There are thermostats located in some offices or suite areas and all classrooms. These thermostats will adjust the temperature up or down 5 degrees. If more than a 5 degree change is required, please call WMC 590-1370 to report it. Be prepared to give the building name, room number, and your name and phone number, in case we need to get back with you. The temperature will then be adjusted from the computerized controls at the Central Energy Plant.

The bathroom has a toilet/sink (plumbing) problem. What should I do?

When there is a plumbing problem, please call WMC 590-1370 to report it. Be prepared to give the building name, room number, and your name and phone number, in case we need to get back with you, and any information about the actual problem.

Who do I notify if I have bugs in my office/classroom?

The University has a contracted pest control service that visits the campus every Friday. If you experience a pest problem, please call WMC at 590-1370. Be prepared to give the building name, room number, and your name and phone number, in case we need to get back with you.

I need my faculty/staff I.D. card...a key for my office...access to a classroom...access to the building. Where can I get it?

If you are faculty or staff, you can obtain your FGCU Eagle ID from the Eagle ID Office located in Cohen Center, room 152. Please refer to the department website for more information at http://www.fgcu.edu/eagleid/. You can then coordinate your request for access to offices, classrooms and buildings with the administrative unit of your department. All requests for access must be submitted with an approved signature. Interoffice or fax BUILDING ACCESS REQUEST FORM to 590-1340.The Work Management Center handles all University key requests, including new keys, replacement keys, broken keys, and keys stuck in locks. If you have a hardware concern, such as a broken or damaged door lock, no lock on your door, the lock doesn't work, or the key won't fit in the lock, please call the Work Management Center at 590-1370. Be prepared to give the building name, room number, and your name and phone number, in case we need to get back with you. University property, such as keys, must be turned in to the Physical Plant department as part of your exit procedure. If you move to a new office location, a KEY TRANSFER FORM can be submitted. Please DO NOT trade keys with anyone until your department's designated administrative unit submits the form signed by your immediate supervisor, Dean, or Director.

Instructions on how to use the classroom card readers are posted above the door handle on every classroom door. On a safety note, classroom doors should not be propped open with desk chairs or waste baskets as this is a hindrance to wheelchair bound occupants, as well as a safety concern in the event that an evacuation is needed.

My office location is being moved. Who do I contact to move my furniture and belongings?

When a change in location occurs, there are several things that need to be done. To start the process, an email should be sent to WMC at wmc@fgcu.edu. Include the anticipated move date and number of boxes needed, if necessary. Building, rooms, and occupant information also needs to be provided. You will also need to fill out a BUILDING ACCESS REQUEST FORM for new keys or a KEY TRANSFER FORM; you'll need to make arrangements with WMC at 590-1370 to turn in any old keys you have. If there is any signage that will be changed, an email should be sent to WMC indicating the changes and locations. Please refer to the Moving Checklist for more information.

Who do I call about cleaning services?

The University has a contracted custodial service. When any type of cleaning is required, please call WMC at 590-1370. Be prepared to give the building name, room number, and your name and phone number, in case we need to get back with you. If a spill occurs, please call as soon as possible. The sooner it can be cleaned the less chance there is of stains occurring or someone slipping. The custodial staff also supplies the restrooms with paper products. If service is needed, please call WMC and we will dispatch personnel on duty.

Where does recycling go? I see the custodians throwing it away.

Waste and recycling is collected every evening. The custodians empty the recycling into a separate bin. The recycling is not thrown away, but rather is gathered and taken to the recycling pickup location. If you have a blue dot or door tag please set out recycling with your trash receptacle.

How do I reserve a large room for a special event?

For table and chair setups or reservations of University multipurpose rooms, such as the classrooms, conference rooms, or Student Union Ballroom, please call Campus Reservations at 590-1090 or visit their website. Please call the WMC at 590-1370 for an estimate on special event services such as electrical setups, custodial services, and event signs or banners.

How do I make a request for signs I need for an upcoming event?

Please refer to the Work Management Center Authorized User List to contact your department representative for a Customer Request submittal of specifications, locations, and quantities needed. WMC will provide a written cost estimate and, upon approval, will construct and place the signs. It is highly recommended that sign requests be submitted two (2) weeks in advance of event. We cannot guarantee completion of requests submitted less than two (2) weeks due to workload.

What should I do if I get locked out of my office or classroom?

If you are locked out of a classroom during regular business hours, please contact Academic Technology at 590-7100. Someone from that department will come over and unlock the door for you. If you are locked out of an office, or locked out after hours, contact the University Police Department at 590-1900. A report will be filled out for each person who is requesting entrance to an area for which they do not have a key.

Who do I call after-hours?

WMC is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. If a maintenance request needs to be addressed after-hours, call 590-1370 and leave a message. If it is an emergency, call the University Police Department at 590-1900 as dispatch has radio communication with plant operator on duty.

Can I borrow tools or equipment from Physical Plant?

No. Physical Plant does not loan tools or equipment, including ladders. Please refer to Physical Plant Support Services Policies and Procedures for information.

Can I borrow a Physical Plant vehicle?

Physical Plant vehicles may be reserved in advance for use around University grounds only. Please contact WMC at 590-1370 or wmc@fgcu.edu for reservations and refer to Department Vehicle Policies and Procedures for more detailed information.

Does the custodial staff supply dispensers in departmental breakrooms?

Services and supplies to breakrooms and coffee rooms are not provided, and are the responsibility of the occupants utilizing such spaces.
