Ms. Angela Baerwalde

Executive Secretary and Faculty Senate Assistant

Angela Baerwalde is the Executive Secretary to the Director of Budgets and Management Services for Academic Affairs and also serves as the Faculty Senate Assistant. She provides administrative and clerical support to the Chief Negotiator and Contract Administrator for Collective Bargaining and assists the Provost's Office with special events. She joined the Office of the Provost in June 2014.

Ms. Baerwalde is a native of West Michigan. She possesses over 25 years of administrative support experience, including 10 years as an administrative support person in K-12 education. She currently resides in Cape Coral with her husband of 20 years and their 2 children.

Ms. Jennifer Baker

Director, Budget and Management Services

Jennifer Baker is the Director of Budgets and Management Services in the Office of the Provost. She provides budget management and oversight of all financial activities and internal controls within Academic Affairs.  She also develops and manages a comprehensive operating budget for the division that serves multiple constituencies.  Ms. Baker is responsible for the accountability of Academic Affairs personnel as it relates to budget, positions, faculty rate and salaries. She directs the university faculty search process and approves all division hires.  Ms. Baker also serves as the Chief Negotiator and Contract Administrator for collective bargaining with the United Faculty of Florida. She is an advisor to the President, Board of Trustees, and Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and in the areas of academic collective bargaining issues and conflict resolution. Ms. Baker joined the Office of the Provost in May 2009.

Prior to joining FGCU, Ms. Baker worked as the Assistant Director for Academic Affairs in the Office of the Provost at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.  She possess over 20 years of university budget experience. Ms. Baker holds a bachelor’s degree in Management from the University of South Florida (Go Bulls!) and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Leo University.

Dr. Tony Barringer

Dr. Tony Barringer

Associate Provost/Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs

Dr. Tony A. Barringer currently serves as Associate Provost/Associate Vice President for Faculty Affairs.  Over his tenure at Florida Gulf Coast University, he has also served as Interim Dean, Associate Dean, and Division Chair.  Prior to joining FGCU in 1997, he taught at the College of Lake County and Southeast Missouri State University.  He has over twenty years of practical experience in criminal justice and has taught in higher education nearly as long.

Dr. Barringer has presented nationally and internationally, served as a consultant to the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice, and, because of the impact of his research and practice, served as a guest discussant at the Florida Department of Corrections’ Re-entry Summit.  He has acted as Principal or Co-Principal Investigator for approximately $1 million in funded state and federal grants in juvenile justice and wraparound services and has published widely on the subject of minorities’ experiences with the criminal justice system.  Dr. Barringer earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a M.S. in Public Administration from Southeast Missouri State University and a doctorate from Northern Illinois University.

In his current capacity, Dr. Barringer assists with the faculty promotion process, coordinates the annual faculty promotion workshop, serves as liaison with campus promotion committees, helps coordinate new faculty orientation, coordinate efforts to recruit and retain underrepresented faculty, coordinates the sabbatical review process handles the grievance process within Academic Affairs, prepares responses to memoranda, assists with performance improvement plans with colleges, oversees the annual update of the electronic faculty resource guide, represents FGCU on various university committees and central administration projects and serve on the FGCU bargaining team.

Ms. Susan Baurer

Assistant Director, Management Services in Academic Affairs

Susan Baurer is the Assistant Director of Management Services in the Office of the Provost.  She works closely with the Academic units regarding allocation and compliance for recruitment of faculty and staff, and also identifies, implements, and delivers essential training on processes related to management services for new and existing staff.  She joined the Office of the Provost in October 2013 after working in the Department of Human Resources for 18 years as an Assistant Director of Recruitment, Compensation & Classification. 

Ms. Baurer holds a bachelor’s in Human Resources Management and a master’s degree in Human Resource Development and Administration from Barry University.

Dr. Cathy Duff

Dr. Cathy Duff

Associate Vice President, Academic and Curriculum Support

Dr. Cathy Duff is the Associate Vice President for Academic and Curriculum Support in the Office of the Provost.  Dr. Duff oversees numerous functions related to program and curriculum development and approval. These activities include interaction with the Florida Board of Governors and the Statewide Course Numbering System, as well as publication of the academic catalog and management of the automated degree audit system. Direct reports include the director of Academic and Event Technology Services and the director of Web, e-Learning, and Publications. Dr. Duff joined Academic Affairs in 1996 prior to the official opening of FGCU on August 25, 1997. She has served in numerous capacities at FGCU since that time, including Assistant Dean for Planning and Evaluation and Accreditation Liaison.

Dr. Duff is a native of Hillsboro, Illinois. Prior to joining the staff at FGCU, she worked as Coordinator of Financial Aid at the University of South Florida, Fort Myers campus, and prior to that as a customs specialist for GE Corporate Pooled Services. Dr. Duff holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in counseling from the University of South Florida. She earned the Ed.D. in educational leadership at the University of Central Florida.

Ms. Tiffany Jackson

Director of Strategic Initiatives

Tiffany Jackson is the Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Provost and VPAA. Tiffany acts as an external liaison for the Provost, attends meetings, manages the Provost's external board participations, manages the student grade appeal process and works on special assignments and projects which serve to advance the overall mission of FGCU. Additionally, she plans the annual Celebration of Excellence Award Ceremony, as well as many other events through the Office of the Provost. Tiffany actively participates on the Student Conduct Committee and the Academic Integrity Committee. Ms. Jackson joined the Office of the Provost in June 2011 and previously served as the Executive Assistant to the Provost. 

Tiffany is proud to be a native of Somerset, New Jersey. Prior to joining FGCU, Tiffany held positions as the Enrollment Management Event Planner/Executive Assistant to the VP for Enrollment Management and as a Marketing Event Coordinator at Ross University School of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine. She holds a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies/Public Relations from Rowan University and a master's degree in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. Tiffany is completing an additional master's degree in Educational Leadership here at FGCU in December 2015. In her spare time, Tiffany enjoys traveling and spending time with her significant other and their three dogs, Lucky, Buddy, and Laci.

Ms. Jena Padilla

Coordinator, Budget and Management Services

Jena Padilla is the Coordinator for Budget and Management Services in the Office of the Provost. Ms. Padilla assists the Director of Budget and Management Services with the recording, verifying, and reconciling of the division budget, faculty/staff searches and hiring processes, and data collection to ensure efficient and equitable distribution of resources. She designs, develops, and conducts various analyses of budget, personnel, and expenditure information. She is also responsible for the development and continuation of training aids and budget tools for support personnel and budget managers within the Division of Academic Affairs. Ms. Padilla joined the Office of the Provost in May 2012, after working as the Activity & Service Fee Accountant for the Division of Student Affairs since June 2009.

Ms. Padilla is a native of Milwaukee, WI. Prior to joining FGCU, she worked as the Director of Compliance in the Athletics Department at the University of South Florida. Ms. Padilla holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of South Florida (Go Bulls!) and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Florida Gulf Coast University (Go Eagles!). She currently resides in Cape Coral with her husband, Mike, and their three fur babies, Bull, Badger, and Kahne.

Dr. Paul Snyder

Senior Associate Provost and Associate Vice President for Planning and Institutional Performance

Dr. Snyder possesses over 30 years of professional experience in higher education. After receiving his doctorate from Cambridge University he worked for nearly 20 years alternating between the New Jersey Department of Higher Education, its successor the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education, and Rutgers University where he served as Vice President for Institutional Research and Planning before coming to FGCU in 2003. As Senior Associate Provost he assists the Provost in myriad ways  including interaction with the Florida Board of Governors, serving as institutional accreditation liaison with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, inter-institutional relationships (both nationally and internationally), specialized program accreditation, academic program review, space planning, and annual reporting to State, Federal, and other authorities. His current responsibilities encompass institutional research, university strategic planning, continuing education, and international education. Among his direct reports are the Executive Director for Off-Campus and Continuing Education, the Director of International Services, the Director of Institutional Research and Analysis, the Associate Dean for Planning and Evaluation, and the Director of Assessment and Accreditation Management Systems.
