Joint Curriculum Task Force - Committee Charge
Committee Charge:
"The QEP Joint Curriculum Task Force will examine the curricula in IDS 1301L Styles and Ways of Learning, IDS 2110 Connections, and IDS 3920 Colloquium to evaluate how well these courses form a curricular developmental sequence intended to enhance learning related to ecological perspective and community involvement. The CCE will examine the curricula of service-learning courses to evaluate whether those courses enhance learning related to ecological perspective and community involvement. The CCE will also gather data on how many service-learning hours are required in each of these courses." (Quality Enhancement Plan Report, page 51)
Steps taken to date:
- QEP Program Director and Coordinator met with coordinators and key faculty in Styles & Ways and Connections on four occasions in fall 2005 to discuss implementing developmental model.
- QEP Program Director and Coordinator met with colloquium faculty bi-monthly in fall 2005 and are continuing those meetings in spring 2006 to discuss implementing developmental model.
- Colloquium faculty and QEP program director and coordinator have established some initial changes to IDS 3920 (including mandatory assessment in colloquium classes for two QEP learning outcomes).
Steps for Spring 2006:
- Finalize changes in readings for IDS 3920, make recommendations to faculty teaching IDS 1301L and IDS 2110 including review of State of the World 2006 for IDS 3920.
- Review measures of student learning of ecological perspective and community involvement in use and revise measures and/or implementation schedule if necessary.
- Implement faculty observation/peer review in all Colloquium sections for spring 2006.
