From the north (via I-75)
Take I-75 South to Exit 128, Alico Rd. Go east on Alico Rd. for half a mile. Go south (right) on Ben Hill Griffin Pkwy for two miles.  Turn left at the stoplight at the main FGCU entrance.

From the south (via I-75)
Take I-75 North to Exit 123, Corkscrew Road . Go east on Corkscrew Road for half a mile. Turn north (left) on Ben Hill Griffin Pkwy; go three miles to FGCU entrance.  Turn right at the stoplight at the main FGCU entrance.

The ceremony will be held Saturday, December 12th, 2009 at ALICO Arena at 9:00 AM.  The ceremony is expected to last approximately 2.5 hours. Due to an expected large attendance, early arrival is encouraged. The doors to ALICO Arena will be open at 7:15 AM.

If not already done, guests with special needs are asked to contact Adaptive Services by calling 239-590-7956 or by e-mailing us at adaptive@fgcu.edu immediately.  Special-needs guests are requested to check-in with Adaptive Services located in the front lobby area of the arena. Please contact Adaptive Services for parking pass and information.

1)   The ceremony is meant as a dignified celebration for our candidates and our guests. With this in mind, all in attendance should be respectful and courteous of others. The Arena Management requires guests to please not bring helium balloons, horns, canned string, beach balls, etc. into the arena. Such items are more suitable for family celebrations after the ceremony.

2)   This is a candidate's ceremony and not a degree conferral ceremony. Participation in the ceremony does not guarantee degree certification.  Students who have applied for degrees will have their application reviewed and approved by the appropriate college once the term is officially closed.

3)   Only Fallcandidates who applied to graduate will have their names listed in the Commencement Program.

         1)   A limited number of tickets will be issued to each candidate for guests to attend the ceremony.

         2)   No guest will be admitted to the Commencement XXIII Ceremony without presenting a ticket.

         3)  Individuals without tickets are encouraged to view the ceremony on big screens to be made available at the FGCU Student Union Ballroom.  Free parking at the FGCU Student Union will be available.

         4)  The Commencement exercise is planned to be webcast  it will be accessible at http://www.fgcu.edu/.
   

1) NO one is allowed onto the main floor or in the entranceways to take pictures.

2) A professional photographer has been hired to take no-obligation photos of each graduate crossing the stage and a photo after receiving the diploma cover.  Bob Knight has taken FGCU's commencement photographs since 1998 and has provided quality photos.

3) Bob Knight Photo Marketing will send proofs to the candidate directly and give him/her the opportunity to purchase photos.

4) Your candidate will be able to provide information about purchasing options available through Bob Knight Photographers.

Business or business casual attire is higly recommended.  T-shirts, shorts, halters or beach wear is not appropriate for this occasion.
