Date and Time

The ceremony will be held Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Germain Arena. The ceremony is expected to last approximately 2 hours. Due to an expected large attendance, early arrival is encouraged. The doors to Germain Arena will be open at 1:00 p.m.

Special Needs

If not already done, guests with special needs are asked to contact Adaptive Services by calling 239-590-7956 immediately.  Special-needs guests are requested to check-in with Adaptive Services located in the front lobby area of the arena. Please contact Adaptive Services for parking pass and information.

Reminders

1)   The ceremony is meant as a celebration for our candidates and our guests. With this in mind, all in attendance should be courteous of others. The Germain Management asks that guests please not bring helium balloons, horns, canned string, beach balls, etc. into the arena. Such items are more suitable for family celebrations after the ceremony.

2)   This is a candidate’s ceremony and not a degree conferral ceremony. Participation in the ceremony does not guarantee degree certification.  Students who have applied for degrees will have their application reviewed and approved by the appropriate college once the term is officially closed.

3)   Only Spring 2008 candidates who applied to graduate will have their names listed in the Commencement Program.

Photographs

Guests are encouraged to take photographs of the student. However, the University asks that all guests remain mindful of the others seated around them. Guests will not be allowed on the arena floor during the ceremony.  As a courtesy, Bob Knight Photographers will be providing commencement photos to FGCU candidates.  Bob Knight has taken FGCU’s commencement photographs since 1998 and has provided quality photos. Proofs will be mailed to the candidate’s address.  Your candidate will be able to provide information about purchasing options available through Bob Knight Photographers.

What to Wear

Since this is a ceremony acknowledging the accomplishments of the candidates, appropriate dress is requested. Formal wear is not required. Coat and tie attire for men and dress-suit or dresses are appropriate for women.
