FGCU Senior Citizen 60+ Auditing Registration

General Information

As a US citizen and a Florida resident 60 years of age or older, you may attend Florida Gulf Coast University undergraduate courses tuiition-free on an audit basis if space is available.  Florida Residency for tuition or waiver purposes is attained when you have lived in the state of Florida for at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately prior to the first day of classes. Three forms of identification are required to verify Florida residency.  Your Florida Driver's license/photo ID and your Florida Voter's identification card, and vehicle registration(s) are documents required for review at the time of registration.

Classroom space for 60+ Audit registration is bases on availability after regular student registration.  Contacting an instructor will not provide access to the course.  A signature will be needed on either your waiver form or add/drop form.  There may be "empty seats", but still no space for 60+ auditing students.  To ensure that all credit/degree-seeking students are accommodated first, registration for 60+ auditing students takes place after classes begin.

Courses are held at the location indicated in the online class schedule on GULFLINE.  Since space is limited, plan alternatives to your first choices.  All of the courses offered by FGCU are found on the Course Description link on GULFLINE (http://gulfline.fgcu.edu).  The link can also be accessed from top menu bar on the FGCU homepage.  We ask that you register only for courses you plan to attend so that others will have the opportunity to register for the courses they want to attend.

Registration Procedure

  1. Tuesday - Friday during the first week of class are the ONLY days you may register for the 60+ classes
  2. Senior Citizen 60+ MUST register in person
  3. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
  4. All non-degree Senior Citizen application forms must be filled out completely
  5. Non-degree Senior Citizen 60+ applications are available from the Registrar's Office website, under 'Forms' on the left navigation menu, or on the day of registration.  If you have registered within the past 12 months, you will only need to fill out the Senior Citizen waiver registration form on the days of registration.  If you have NOT registered within the past 12 months, or are a new FGCU 60+ student, the entire registration package must be filled out and returned to the the Office of the Registrar.

Parking Decal

To park on campus, Senior Citizen 60+ is required to have a parking decal from FGCU Parking Services.  A parking permit may be filled out and printed from the 'Parking Services'website.  Vehicle registration is required once you have registered for classes.  Parking Services is found at the Campus Support Complex building on the FGCU main campus.  Note: Outstanding tickets prevent enrollment.

Student ID

Participants are required to have a FGCU Eagle ID card.  This fee is included in your waived fees.  The Student ID Office is located in the Student Union building.

Auditing Etiquette

To audit means to listen.  The extent of participation in classroom discussion will be established by the individual instructor.  The interests of the tuition-paying students must remain primary; interference by enthusiastic auditing students (60+) is disruptive.

When auditing a class, please be courteous and considerate of the students who are taking the class for credit.

Please do not invite or encourage guest to attend classes with you.
