Lauren Small
Lauren Small a native of Denver, Colorado earned a PhD in Comparative Literature from the Johns Hopkins University. She has published in academic journals such as MLN and German Quarterly and her work has been anthologized in Exile in Culture. She co-translated an essay in Kafka's Contextuality.
Small's fiction has appeared in literary magazines such as Fiction, The Monocacy Valley Review, Partisan Review, and StoryQuarterly. Her short story "Livia" was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She has published essays in Driftwood and Finding Change, and has presented her work at readings in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Florida, New York, and Colorado.
In 2008 Small founded Bridle Path Press and published her novel Choke Creek, currently in its second printing. Forthcoming from Bridle Path Press are The Blue Virgin, a mystery by Marnette Grath, and the Collected Poems of John Damon. Small writes Pub Crawl, a blog with news and information about the publishing world. She lives in Baltimore, where she is an adjunct professor of creative writing at the Community College of Baltimore County.
