Laura Valeri (Fiction)
Laura Valeri is the author of The Kind of Things Saints Do (University of Iowa Press), winner of the John Simmons Award and the Binghamton University John Gardner Award. Her work appears in Glimmer Train, Big Bridge, Gulfstream, Waccamaw, Fiction Writers' Review, SN Review, Clapboard House, Literary Potpourri, and an anthology of Italian American writers edited by Creative Nonfiction and published by Other Press titled Our Roots Are Deep With Passion. She is the author of The Love Thief and These Innocent Lambs and Other Stories, which are currently under review with independent publishers. She was a 2008 Walter E Dakin Sewanee Writers Conference Fiction Fellow. Laura received her first MFA in creative writing at Florida International University and a second MFA in Fiction Writing at the Iowa Writers' Workshop. She is Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Georgia Southern University where she's been teaching since 2003. She lives in Savannah, GA, with husband Joel and is at work on a new novel, a memoir and a screenplay.
