Guidance on the appropriate use of FGCU's Avaya telephone system is described in more detail in the Telephone Usage section of the Employee Handbook.
You are permitted to make long distance telephone calls for business purposes only. University employees are prohibited from using the telephone system for personal long distance calls. If you have any questions about the operation of the University’s telephone system, please contact the Department of Telecommunications at 590-1001, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Once your office telephone has been set up and voicemail assigned, you will need to login to the phone and set your password. Dialing 1550 will connect you with the voicemail system, where you will follow the prompts to get started.
Your initial voicemail password is 5901550. The first time you log in to the system you will be asked to change your password and record your greeting (option 4 then option 9). When changing your password you must use at least 6 numbers and you cannot begin the password with a zero. Additional documentation on the use of your phone can be found here.
