The Math Placement Test is required of everyone entering FGCU who still must take a math course to graduate (Note: a Statistics course is required of most majors to graduate from FGCU. If you have not had a Statistics course and your Academic Advisor states that you are in need of a Statistics course, then you will be required to take the Math Placement Test).
The Math Placement Test is a computer-based test, multiple-choice, untimed, and calculators are NOT permitted. The Elementary Algebra test consists of 12 problems. If a student scores 90 or higher (out of a possible 120 points) on the Elementary Algebra Test, the computer will automatically give you another math test titled College Level Math. It will contain 25 problems, be slightly more difficult, and will offer an on-screen calculator for some problems. The College Level Math test will be given to those testing on the day of their Orientation by Advisor recommendation only. There is a $25 fee for the Math Placement Test payable at the time you come in to take the test.
FRESHMEN & TRANSFER STUDENTS NOTE: IF YOU WILL BE TAKING THE MPT ON THE MORNING OF YOUR ORIENTATION, PLEASE ADD THE $20 FEE TO YOUR ORIENTATION CHECK.
