Sergeant Jones began his career in Law Enforcement in 1996 with the Florida Department of Corrections. In December 2004 he joined the Florida Gulf Coast University Police Department as a police officer. He was promoted to Sergeant in January 2009
Sergeant Jones currently oversees the training needs of the Department, coordinates traffic enforcement efforts with surrounding Law Enforcement agencies, and is the Agency Internship Coordinator. Sergeant Jones is also a Field Training Officer and a CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) Officer. In addition to his 16 years of experience, in 2003 Sergeant Jones obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Gulf Coast University and is currently enrolled in the graduate program.
