My research interests include a wide breadth of topics, including gene therapy, cellular entry, cellular mechanics and intracellular trafficking. We're currently trying to understand how mechanotransduction (the cellular conversion of mechanical stimulation to chemical activity) affects intracellular trafficking of non-viral plasmid DNA, an important barrier one must overcome for effective gene therapy. Other ongoing research projects include using non-chemical means to enhance non-viral gene delivery and determining how mechanical stimulation affects wound healing and cellular regeneration. We will be moving into our permanent home in Holmes Hall in December, 2009, but welcome student and faculty participation. If you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact me!
