The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, or Clery Act (previously the Student Right to Know and Campus Security Act (1990)), mandates that all postsecondary institutions are required to prepare, publish, and distribute certain information regarding campus crime and policies related to security. In addition to crime statistics for the past three years, the national legislation requires universities to make policies related to security issues public. New requirements in 2010 included information on fire incident reporting requirements, missing student guidelines, emergency notification guidelines, and hate crime reporting requirements. Another update in 2013, the Campus SaVE Act, provides for additional information on such issues as sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, harassment, and the providing of training to faculty, staff and students. The FGCU Campus Safety Guide is published annually and is available on the FGCU General Counsel website.
