ACOA - Adult Children of Alcoholics: Growing up in a home with substance abuse
Growing up in a home with one or both parents who abuse alcohol or other substances often leaves us with insufficient coping mechanisms. This group is a place to explore how you may have been affected by parental substance abuse, what has worked well for you in terms of coping with the dynamics of your family, and what you may want to change in your current relational style. The goals of this group are to provide some psychoeducation on addicdtion and ACOA common experiences, as well as to provide a safe place for students to find emotional support from fellow students in similar situations.
This group is facilitated by Kelly Rubin, M.A., LMHC, CAC and will meet from 2:00 - 3:30pm on Wednesdays in Howard Hall 228. This group requires a brief screening appointment, before you can join the group, prior to the anticipated start date of September 10, 2014. Please contact CAPS (590-7950) to find out more information or to schedule an appointment.
