SMART Recovery

**This group is not scheduled to run during the Spring 2017 academic term.  If you have an interest in or are in need of this group, please contact CAPS to be added to the group sign-up sheet for the Fall 2017 academic term. **

This group promotes self-directed change and self-empowerment and offers support in your efforts to address misuse or abuse of alcohol or other drugs and/or other addictive behaviors. Learn self-reliance as you work to improve the satisfaction and quality of your life. SMART Recovery is an alternative to 12-step recovery programs and draws upon the ever-evolving scientific knowledge about addition and recovery. Group members can learn ways of:

  • Building and maintaining motivation
  • Coping with urges
  • Managing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors
  • Living a balanced life


This group typically meets on Wednesdays from 4:30 - 6:00pm during the Spring and Fall semesters. This group requires a brief screening appointment before joining, which provides an opportunity to meet with Kelly, ask questions you may have about the group, and help determine if the group is a good fit for your individual goals. The group early in the semester, so contact CAPS today to request a screening appointment or, if the group has already started for the semester, to request that your name be added to the group sign-up list for next semester.
