Dr. Lieber studied mathematics at the City
College of New York where he received a BSc. He did medical school
at the Faculté de Médicine de l’Université Catholique de Louvain in
Louvain, Belgium. He did his internship at the Kreiskrankenhaus
Northeim in Germany and came back to America where he completed a
surgical residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in
Philadelphia. He studied in the Master’s Program in Biomedical
Engineering at Drexel University in Philadelphia. He holds a patent
for a microelectronic device to measure blood flow in implanted
vascular prosthetics

Dr. Lieber worked, in practice with his wife,
Dr. Ursula Seinige, as a general surgeon at the Graduate Hospital of
the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and became the
director of the independent surgery residency program there. He
later became Chief of Surgery at the Veterans Administration
Hospital for Delaware which is a totally integrated medical center
in the Thomas Jefferson University Medical School system. He holds
the rank of Associate Professor of Surgery from Thomas Jefferson
Medical School.
Dr. Lieber is a Fellow of the American College
of Surgery. He has authored many papers and several book chapters on
surgical topics. He has been invited to address his colleagues on
several topics in many meetings.
In addition to managing the Department of
Surgery at the Delaware VA Medical Center, he was in charge of
patient care in the surgical intensive care unit. He has extensive
experience in the practice and teaching of general, vascular,
oncologic and bariatric surgery and in the management of the
critically ill patient. He has a great interest in medical
physiology and pathophysiology.
Dr. Lieber’s hobbies are cooking and reading
mathematics. He bikes and enjoys tennis. He is widely traveled and
loves art museums and zoos.
