Application Process
| The School of Nursing fosters an integrated, student focused, and
community partnered nursing model embracing a pedagogy of dialectic practice
based learning within an egalitarian caring environment. |
First Time in College and Transfer students who plan to enter the BSN Program should declare themselves
as Pre-Nursing majors when applying for admission to FGCU.
Pre-majors should contact the School of Nursing for advising after completing 24
credit hours at FGCU or other university/college. Freshmen will be advised in First Year Advising before
transitioning to the School of Nursing Advisor, which is normally in the second semester of their freshman
years. Pre-Nursing majors admitted to FGCU must complete Foreign Language,
General Education requirements,
Gordon Rule, CLAST,
and Nursing prerequisites as freshmen and sophomores.
A Lower Level Tracking Sheet with a suggested progression plan for completing these requirements can be viewed
here.
Applications for the BSN-FTIN (First Time in Nursing) program are accepted for the fall semester only. A Nursing Supplemental Application should be postmarked by February 1st to be considered for admission the following fall. Students who meet specific criteria outlined on the BSN-FTIN supplemental application may apply for Early Decision. The deadline is December 15th. Transfer students with an AA from a Florida community college satisfy the General Education and Gordon Rule requirements for the Nursing Program. All other program requirements must be completed for consideration in the program. Please contact the School of Nursing for information regarding transcript review of transfer credits prior to the application deadline.
If accepted in the Nursing Program, students begin full-time curriculum in the fall semester of their junior
year. A required nursing Orientation is held prior to the beginning of the program each fall semester. Classes
are held, primarily, Monday through Friday during the day, and clinical start during first semester of enrollment.
