BSN Program
First Time in Nursing

Program Description

The School of Nursing fosters an integrated, student focused, and community partnered nursing model embracing a pedagogy of dialectic practice based learning within an egalitarian caring environment. photo

The BSN program at Florida Gulf Coast University is designed to prepare caring scholar clinicians for professional practice in contemporary health care settings. Graduates are prepared to assume vital roles in the improvement of the health care system. State-mandated common prerequisites for nursing form the foundation of study for the major. The community partnered, student-focused nursing curriculum is grounded in knowledge of the theory and practice of nursing with integration of critical thinking, communication, health promotion, caring, and cultural connectedness constructs.

The School of Nursing offers two options for the BSN program:

  • BSN Program is for student without a prior nursing college degree. This Bachelor's degree is an upper level, Limited Access Program, and prepares students for Registered Nurse(RN) licensure
  • RN-BSN Accelerated Pathway is offered as an online program and is designed for students who have completed an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ASN) and want to further their educational opportunities and enhance their career options by obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
