Members
introduced themselves, and filled survey forms
Dave Johnson
briefed on the steps accomplished in forming a new AITP chapter:

The initial
meeting by a steering committee to form AITP chapter was held.
-
About
200 letters were sent to solicit members.
-
FGCU CIS
faculty members were contacted by David Johnson.
-
Raj Bandi,
Kazuo Nakatani and David Johnson met to cooperate to form a chapter.
-
About
60 plus letters and e-mails were sent from FGCU CIS department to solicit
members.
Steps
remaining to form a new AITP chapter were explained by David Johnson.

Fill out
membership applications.
-
Bylaw
needs to be approved by members.
-
Board
of Directors (6) must be elected at the next meeting.
-
Three
Officers (President, Secretary/Treasurer, and Liaison) must be elected
at the next meeting.
Bylaw
was reviewed and approved by members present at the meeting.
-
Jurisdiction
will be Charllote, Collier, Lee, Glades, Hendrey, and Lee counties.
Local
chapter dues of $20.00, was approved by members present at the meeting.
Candidates
for Board of Directors, as well as Officers, were solicited.

David
Johnson volunteered for President.

Kazuo
Nakatani volunteered for Secretary/Treasurer.

Walter
Rodriguez volunteered for Board of Directors, as well as Liaison.

Board
of Directors: Don Cole, David Shapiro, Brian Stewart volunteered for Board
of Directors.

David
Johnson would contact other members not at the meeting to be nominees.

Walter
Rodriguez suggested it is preferable that one of Officers comes from the
Industry.
Future
Meetings:

Members
agreed that regular meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of January,
March, May, September, October, and November at 7:00 p.m.

An annual
dinner meeting was proposed by David Johnson.
The necessity
of the Publicity Committee was brought up by David Johnson to find new
members and how to find new members was discussed among the members. The
following methods of finding new members was discussed:

Advertise
to members of Computer Information Society at FGCU.

Free announcement
on Newspaper. (Dick Freeland volunteered to take initiative)
-
Advertise
to appropriate user groups. (Orv Curry volunteered)
-
Advertise
through cable TV. (Gary Page volunteered)
The next
meeting will be held at Walden Center at 7:00 p.m. January 13 (Tuesday).

Invite
a member from other regional chapter to discuss how to operate a chapter.
-
David
Johnson will contact other regional chapter.
